Lily Viek - Her Long Poem

Lily chose to go after Super Mario in her story. While I would have liked something more original from her, as she is such a good writer, this will do. D.R. Wagner

Saving Princess Peach

by Lily Viek

Waking up in the morning

Not sure what the day has to offer

The sun shining bright

And blinding his sight

He grabs his favorite red cap

And throws on his red shirt

Add his blue overalls to complete the look

Then it's time to head out to work

Passing by the castle

He sees a strange old mushroom

He looks frantic and worried

So toward the figure he hurried

Our hero approaches the mushroom

And then he says says, "Oh Toadsworth,

now what's wrong?

"Mario, the princess is gone!"

Mario calls for his brother

They dress somewhat similar

But Luigi is tall and lean

And, instead of red, he wears green

And so they set out on their journey

Across the land

To save the damsel in distress

And clean up this mess

Not long into their adventure

Our heroes come across Toad

An annoying white mushroom

Who decides to join them too

Mario can eat mushrooms

And they will make him grow

But please be careful

And don't eat little toad

They jump on clouds

And run across platforms

Jumping over hurdles

And avoiding evil turtles

Pulling radishes out of the ground

And throwing them at the enemies

Seems like such a bore

Then along comes their favorite dinosaur

He's small and green

But easy to ride

Yoshi is an excellent ally

To have at your side

He can grab monsters with his tongue

And swallow them whole

Turning them into eggs

Then out the back they roll

Mario takes the eggs

And uses them to fight

He aims them at the enemies

And throws them with all of his might

Knocking down each flying turtle

And jumping on the rest

He crosses the first land

And passes his first test

But the Villain Bowser

With his spikey shell of green

Has many more obstacles

Because he is really mean

Some areas are on land

While others are in the sky

Sometimes Mario needs to walk on ice

And other times he needs to fly

Sometimes he travels through pipes

That teleport him across the land

And other times he falls through holes

That are located in the sand

The most difficult area of all

Is also Mario's final stage

Where he must face Bowser

And all of his rage

Bowser's castle is dark and spooky

there are many traps waiting inside

it's usually filled with fire and lava

with few places for Mario to hide

Mario must avoid falling boulders

and random outbursts of fire

in order to rescue the princess

locked away in the tower

He's finally at the top

But then Bowser appears

The dragon-like turtle breathes his fire

And Mario must face his worst fear

Mario begins throwing objects

Toward the evil Bowser

Every hit weakens him

But not enough to compare to his power

Down to his last bit of health

Weakened from Bowser's powerful fire

And his unbeatable strength

Mario grows very weak and tired

Out of nowhere a gold star appears

Floating around Mario

He grabs it and holds it

And it turns him invincible

The boost was just what he needs

To pull through long enough

To beat any foe

No matter how tough

And with that being said

Mario placed one last fatal blow

And Bowser fell down to the ground

And let the princess go

She expresses her gratitude

And before running home

She kisses him and his brother

But has no one noticed he is an Italian plumber?
