Three Mice
Over the hills, through the woods,
Behind the trees, under the car hoods.
Three mice come out each night,
To find the stars by their light.
Smaller than any creature known to man,
Bigger than your ordinary cooking pan.
These three mice live to tell the tale
Of the horrors and adventures they took sail.
It all starts with the oldest mouse,
Wanted to leave the car’s hood and find a real house.
Such small creatures cannot leave alone,
They’ll be caught by the smell of their strong cologne.
A coyote or lion or bear will find them,
Eat them up so quickly no one will notice them.
But he decided to flee their so-called “house”
To find something beyond it for this ordinary mouse.
He told the young ones they would leave in the morning,
That this day would be anything but boring.
The young ones followed him with no concerns,
No worries just trust in their big brothers endeavors.
The fight for their lives would come soon,
They might have to battle off creatures like baboons.
The eldest would protect with no doubt,
Because he knew what this was all about.
The bright night turned dark very quickly,
Looking like the clouds and sky were sickly.
Dark grays and puffy clouds hovered over,
Rain dropped down that almost kill them moreover.
Determined, the mice kept on,
They knew they needed somewhere they belonged.
Guided by the star’s light,
They went into the darkness brought by the night.
They each crawled one by one,
The oldest leading them like they were his sons.
The mice had a secret code only they could hear,
When the youngest fell back, he whispered in their ear.
The oldest was named Tommy and he was smart,
He was known for having the biggest heart.
Brownish and grayish, he led the pack,
In case anything were to attack.
The middle one was name Joey and he was cute,
Always known for getting the best mice with the boots.
Off whitish and brownish, he attracted everyone,
Always entered in mice contests and he always won.
Finally the baby of the family was named Willy,
He was known for being funny and silly.
Following Tommy, he was a mix of brown and gray,
Since he was the baby, he constantly got his way.
Tommy, Joey and Willy stayed in a line,
They stood together and formed the look of a perfect spine.
Their adventure began in the middle of the night,
Since they wanted to find a house by morning’s light.
One by one, they left the car’s hood,
The bottom of the car was where the rest stood.
They crawled down and took off,
Couldn’t make any noise, not even a cough.
If someone or something heard them they were in trouble,
Their enemy would find them in time with double.
These mice had to tip toe,
Not leaving anything behind, especially their mom’s bow.
Their mom gave them a bow before she was taken,
Her enemy took her although he was mistaken.
Trying to grab her sister, he snatched her instead,
Killed instantly by the head.
Their mission was just getting started,
Giving their full efforts, nothing half-hearted.
The mice wandered through the forest,
They came across this tall, black horse.
The horse spoke their language and understood,
He had lived in a place near their hood.
He agreed to carry them to their final destination,
Because that was his intention.
Protected by this horse, they went along their way,
Their journey became interesting over the next day.
Tommy found the love of his life,
She was beautiful, but full of strife.
She reminded him of his mother,
Sweet, caring, and got along with his brothers.
They came across each other from afar,
And fell in love with what he saw in his radar.
Joey and Willy were pleased to see their brother happy,
Her warm, mouse personality shined as well as her beauty.
Her name was Jasmine and she was all alone,
Her family and friends were gone into the unknown.
So Tommy, Joey, Willy, Jasmine and the horse continued,
Drinking from the river and searching for food.
Suddenly, the horse heard something vicious coming,
The footsteps sounded like the beat of drumming.
Out of the branches the tigers emerged in a pack,
Causing the horse and the mice to stop in their track.
Numb with fear the mice hid behind the horse,
The horse tried to gallop through them with great force.
Hearts beating so fast no one could catch their breath,
Thinking these were their final moments until death.
They made their way through them safely,
They all thanked the horse so affectionately.
Thinking everything was smooth sailing from here on out,
One tiger made its way and gave this crew a shout.
They each turned around with more fear than ever,
This tiger was the only one of the pack that was clever.
He jumped around them so he was now in front,
Looking for food because he was on the hunt.
The mice all separated thinking it was for the best,
The tiger did not know where to go and whom he would digest.
Joey and Willy stayed nearby,
Tommy and Jasmine tried to fight off the bad guy.
The horse finally stepped in,
He took over and made the tiger run away within.
The mice rejoiced for the help of their horse,
And the horse replied it was part of this long course.
They continued on their journey to find their home.
They stumbled upon this place covered in chrome.
It was the perfect size for the 4 mice and the horse to stay,
Perfect location because it was not too far away.
They all agreed they needed each other for protection,
And Jasmine and Tommy had found such a deep connection.
This journey was rough, long, and terrifying,
But family and friends were there for clarifying.
The dream home was founded,
Lush greens and bright flowers were surrounded.
The three mice never forget about this prolonged trip,
The story is told every night, not a single detail is skipped.
They know it brought them closer as a family,
And they embrace their struggles easily.
Now it is over the hill, through the woods,
Where they found their home of goods.
No need for anything but each other,
Except the bow they got from their mother.
They will keep this with them as a sign of her,
Because the other memories have become a blur.
Long live the three mice and Jasmine and their horse,
It was a horrific and adventurous trip they took, of course.
The stories continue about these three mice,
Questions always asked, “Were they nice?”
The list goes on about concerns everyone had for them,
But they were all the same because they came from the same stem.
Long live those three mice,
They are always full of good advice.
